My First Kindle

Okay, I told you about this a few days ago and here it is!

Giovanni Gelati, blogmaster of Gelati's Scoop and host of the G-Zone on blog-talk-radio, created an innovative series called the Author's Lab with Trestle Press. Basically, he partners with a variety of authors to write an ongoing series of digital shorts. These e-books cover many genres mostly for adults, but I have the privilege of working with him on the first All-Ages story.

If you have a Kindle, it's only $0.99!

You will see inspiration from The Empyrical Tales, but this story takes on a life of its own. Hopefully, the G-Man and I will revisit these characters later this summer.

In the meantime, here is A Prince in Trenton, Seriously?

If you have already read The Fourth Queen and The Lost Queen, this will tide you over until The Secret Queen. If you haven't picked up The Empyrical Tales from Comfort Publishing yet, maybe this will entice you to step into my world!

Keeping Busy

I recently did an interview with Giovanni Gelati for his blogtalkradio to promote The Lost Queen. He invited me to do a short story together in order to give his readers and listeners a taste of The Empyrical Tales. The story is part of his Author's Lab Collaboration series. The G-Man has created a series of on-going stories with a variety of authors in a wide variety of genres. My installment is called "A Prince in Trenton, Seriously?" and is coming soon. I will post a link as soon as the story is available on Kindle and other e-book formats.

In the meantime, here is the cover art:

Giovanni loves to get feedback on his artwork, so please leave a comment.

Teachers, Hey Teachers!

Whether you are in public school, private school or home school, I have news for you! (just in time for summer)

Some of you may have seen this before, but many haven't. I've added a page over at MillerWords specifically for you. After many requests from teachers and parents, I put together The Empyrical Tales Study Guide.

That's right! Not only are the Empyrical Tales a lot of fun, now they can be homework too.

Check out this direct link and download whatever pages interest you. There are plenty of fun activities and activities for all ages. Things to do for yourself or things to put in the grade book. Then if you decide you need a classroom set, email mark@millerwords.com.

I put a lot of work into this for you and still have more to come. I hope you find it useful. Please email me with any comments or suggestions.

Big Site Update

If you haven't visited MillerWords in awhile, I've updated a lot of great stuff in the past few days.

First, check out my blog over on the right. I've added a lot of badges for a bunch of exciting networks. There is so much going on on these sites, I can barely keep up!

The big things at my site:

I added Daniel's Lot to my books section. Daniel's Lot is a faith-based film shot entirely in Central Florida starring mostly local actors and produced by Faith and Power Pictures. I had the opportunity to work on set a few days (dusted off my old Bachelor's in Film). Then I had the privilege of writing the novella adaptation. I got to add a nice framework and create some back story, as well as an epilogue. I am on the verge of having this published, which will be nice since the movie is about to show up on syndicated cable television! There are links to the official movie site with all of those details and a sneak preview of my first chapter.

The other thing to watch for is The Empyrical Tales Study Guide. I am going to do a separate post on that to hopefully catch the attention of all those brilliant teachers out there.

Plus, as usual, you can purchase autographed copies of The Empyrical Tales at a special price directly through my site using Paypal.

Maybe too soon?

I know The Lost Queen only came out last month, but my mind (and writing) is currently on the third and fourth books in the series.

While I am hard at work on revisions for the fourth draft of Book III: The Secret Queen, I wanted to share a little. Here is the opening of the first chapter:

Aeran the hawk perched on the thick cedar beam that spanned The top of the sandstone arch. The splintered wood left an odd sensation on his old wound. His long lost talons would never grow back.

Being smaller than the fearsome native hawks of this strange land, Aeran roosted unnoticed. He pecked momentarily at the wood beneath his claws hoping to find a snack. When he found no insects, he turned his attention back to the crowded marketplace.

He scanned the rows of tables shaded by their brightly colored awnings and tried to watch the hundreds of tanned faces that conducted their business today. Most of the market-goers were human, but the ones that made Aeran nervous had the heads and tails of cats attached to human bodies. Still, he did not spy the one wretched face he grew to know so well over the past several days. This made him wonder if the other innocent people could sense this evil in their midst.

To read the rest of the chapter, visit my site and go to the Book tab. You can find previews of the first three books in The Empyrical Tales series. As you scroll down, follow the sneak preview link next to each title.
